Double page spread - draft

what was your inspiration to start singing ska music were there any exsisting artists that were influential to your music?
Madness have always been an inspirational band to my music, i think they really define the genre and are iconic to it. Theyre one of the only ska bands that have instantly recognisable songs too.
How did you get in to the music business did you do it alone and if not who helped you?
I started singing on kareoke at a young age and people thought i was good so later when i was 17 a pub hired me to sing for them on
the weekend.
After a while I really started to get noticed and my best guess is that word got around to the right people which is when i was offered a contract.
what other genres of music do you like to listen to besides ska, which are your favorites?
Ive always liked the old pop and rock like Bon Jovi and Michael Jackson, he was called the king of pop for a reason. I particuarly like The Earth song.
tell us about your upcoming UK tour, what  places in the uk are you going to be visiting?
I will be touring to all the corners of the uk  so thats Lincholnshire, Lowestoft, Southampton, London and  theres loads of others too. If you want to find out if we are visiting your home town check out my website at www.Craze-Tour .co.uk heres a list of places on there
youve got a new album coming out this month too could you tell us when in the month its being released and what songs are going to be included with it?
Yeah my new album is coming out on Febuary 15th and its called “Absolute Craze” it will include all of my greatest hits on it including song like “Londons Eye” and “Cockney nights” there are loads of others as well but theres a lot to name.

Looking back at your preliminary task (the college magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

I think that for a first try this magazine cover was okay but there are still a lot of mistakes in it and improvements that could be made.

Photography: The photo used for this cover is the worst part because magazine covers and the photos on them are supposed to attract attention not scare it away. The smile is creepy and the eyes are squinty. I used a long medium shot for the range and a direct mode of address which is good but there is no lighting.

Background: The background is extremely plain and boring however I do like the rings coming from the EN logo if I were to do it again I would have used more vibrant colours. The colour also clashes with the clothes.

Masthead: I like how I used the EN logo to be part of the masthead but that’s the only good part the letters are too thin and do not look like they are associated with the logo making it inconsistent.

This cover is a lot better than the college magazine cover I made before, it is still not great but it is better.
Photography: The photography is better in this cover because I was able to use lighting so it clearly shows his face. The cover model doesn’t look creepy in this one either although he could have smiled a bit, but this is the photographers fault too. I decided to use a close medium shot this time because I thought it was more conventional.
Background: The background is still quite plain but I don’t think there is very much flexibility for what you can do with a background so I settled with a black fade to white.
Masthead: The masthead is a lot better than the one I did before because it is consistent and colourful, I also included another logo within the masthead itself and used the symbol t replace the “o”.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have learnt how to confidently use lots of new websites that I would normally not have even heard of and they have been very helpful during this course and may prove useful again in the future. Some of the websites that I have used are Blogger which is used to present our work on I think this is good because it gives students a lot more flexabilty with doing and handing in their work.Blogger is also a way to nicely present your work to the world where it can get recognised, my page has way more views than I thought it woud. Survey monkey was an easy way to ask questions to a lot of people, I can see this being useful again someday. Prezi is a good way of presenting things and is a lot more inrteresting than the standard power point presentaton because between each “Slide” you can zoom in to images that could not be seen otherwise or tou can spin into it and theres probably a lot more. You may be thinking “powerpoint has transitions too” this is true but prezi just does it so much better and looks better too.
Another programme that I have learnt to use during college is photoshop, before college I had never used it and now I use it art least twice a week for both college work and for fun. Photoshop can be used to do almost anything you can think of realting to text or imagery. Photoshop has so many tools my favorite one is probably the magic wand tool which I use to cut crappy backgrounds out of images and put a better one in.During the photoshoots I also learnt about lighting and got to use some of the lights, they were each used to light a certain area of the image or it could give different looks to the image by only lightingcertain sides one of the looks that can be made is called the “noir” look which would be a referance to the genre film noir.
To create the silhouette looking image on the right side of my contents page I used the selection tool which is located under the same area as the magic wand tool and selected the areas of the original image I wanted which were all the black parts of the suit and his head and hands. While they are selected I used the paintbrush which only worked in the selected areas. Then I did the same for the white areas.

How did i attract/ address my target audience?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

DEMOGRAPHICS: My target audience will be mainly working class middle aged men about 40-60 years old I chose this age range because they are most likely to have been or still are in the social groups that my magazine is based around. There is also a younger target audience to consider which I think would be working class males aged 19-30 years old who may not have been skinheads or mods a while ago but they can still take interest in all the things that they like such as ska and two tone music or the classic scooters and some of the dress sense.

PSYCHOGRAPHICS: When I think of my target audience’s lifestyle choices smoking comes to mind and this is relevant because smokers are likely to go to the shops often to purchase cigarettes so are likely to see the magazine when they go in to the shop. ska and two tone music is what they will likely listen to which is the reason they are my target audience. I think that they would take an interest in football so they might like certain films like Green Street. Taking all these things into mind these are the sort of things that I will be advertising in my magazine.

I think that I would buy my magazine because it would be an easier place to find advertisements on some of the fashion I like such as Harrington jackets. This will interest the younger audience and possibly even encourage buying it. Advertising events like scooter rallies will defiantly be popular among both age groups of my target audience because they are a popular event which hundreds attend.
