What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
I think the media institution best suited to sell my magazine is “DENNIS”
because most of the magazines that they distribute are mens magazines (e.g.
Auto express, Mens Fitness). If I could get my magazine distributed by “DENNIS”
It would be because it has the unique selling point that it is the only
magazine I am aware of that is based on SKA and two tone music, and although
you do not hear much of the mods and skinheads anymore there are still a lot of
them and there is definatly a potential target market all over Britain
especially in London, there are loads in norfolk alone! The advertising that
would be included in my magazine would be for clothes and classic scooters and
their parts which is not conventional with music magazines but it will appeal
to the target audience and will be another unique selling point.
Another option could be digital distribution however the downside is that
the older target audience I have will likley not be familiar with how to do
this which would cause problems. So instead of digital distribution I would go
for the more conventional aproach and just have my magazine put up on shelves
in news agents. And it is likley that there are more than a few middle aged men
that visit the news agents for things like cigerrettes and newspapers. Taking
all this into consideration it is very unlikely that my magazine will ever be
sold in any shops because large companies like DENNIS would correctly think
that the target audience is to small and there is not a very good potential
market for it, after all only 3/10 magazines survive their first three years.

You make some good points. Silly spelling error - eg to/too. Dennis magazines are distributed by Seymour http://www.seymour.co.uk/ so you should discuss them a bit. Also what sort of advertising income might the mag gegerate? What sort of products/brands would you want to approach to advertise in your magazine?
